Mother's Day Lanterns

A lantern is chosen by its height above all, because it fills a volume rather than just a surface. Our lanterns range from around twenty centimeters to over sixty, in metal and glass as well as woven rattan.

Composing With Heights

A single lantern quickly looks lost, while two or three models of different heights build an entire corner. Leave about ten centimeters of height difference between two neighboring pieces, otherwise the heights read as one. The tall models stand on the floor, the small ones stay on a coffee table.

Metal and Rattan

The metal and glass of the Ysel and Kael models draw a graphic silhouette that holds its own with nothing around it. The woven rattan of the Replay line softens the same idea and casts the shadow of its weave as soon as a flame burns inside. Choose the metal finish as an extension of the room's light fixtures.

What Goes Inside

A lantern takes a pillar candle, a tealight on a small dish, or a battery-operated candle where a flame has no place. Measure the opening before choosing the candle: a narrow side door makes lighting a large diameter awkward. Leave a few centimeters between the flame and the top of the lantern, as heat rises.

Frequently Asked Questions

Can a lantern stay outdoors?

Metal and glass can handle a covered terrace, as long as you bring the lantern in when the weather turns. Rattan should be kept sheltered: prolonged damp turns it gray and loosens the weave.

What size for an entryway?

A lantern of thirty to forty-five centimeters sits well on an entryway floor without getting in the way. Beyond that, save it for a corner of a living area.

How do you clean a lantern?

Wash the glass in hot soapy water and dry it right away; metal only needs a dry cloth. On rattan, a dry brush run along the weave removes dust.
