Mother's Day Candles

A candle is chosen by its diameter as much as by its height, because the holder is what decides. Our selection brings together pillar candles in several sizes, slim candles for candlesticks and scented candles.

The size depends on the holder

A slim candle slips into a candlestick and stands without a dish, while a pillar needs a flat tray or a wider glass. The Antik and Stripes pillars range from extra small to extra large: the small ones are set out in groups, the large ones stand alone on a table. Candles for votive holders, eighteen centimeters tall, need a narrow, heavy holder, and the short sizes come in boxed sets.

Scented or decorative

A scented candle is chosen for the scale of the room: a large container fills a living room, a small one is enough for an entryway. Pillar and candlestick candles play on light and color, with no scent to compete with a dish. On a table where you eat, let the bare flames do the decorating.

Burning and care

Trim the wick to a few millimeters before each lighting: a wick that is too long smokes and blackens the glass. A candle in a draft melts on one side only, so keep it away from an open window. Let the wax cool before moving a pillar, otherwise the surface keeps the mark.

Frequently asked questions

Which candle for a candlestick?

A slim candle whose base fits into the socket without forcing. The Rustic and Stripes models are designed for this use.

How do you fix a candle that tunnels?

Let it burn until the entire surface melts, at least an hour for a large diameter. A candle put out too early digs a well that the flame can no longer catch up with.

What is a candle refill for?

It replaces the wax used up in a glass you keep, like the Bella Ambre refill. Compare its diameter with that of the container: it should fit in without touching the sides.
