Lanterns

A lantern is a flame you can carry. From the dinner table to the windowsill, from the entryway to the covered terrace: our models are carried by the handle, and that is what shapes their design. Patinated metal, wood, rattan or stoneware, from small table lanterns to large floor-standing models.

Which Candle to Slip Inside

The candle is not included, and the holders are not all the same. Some models come with a removable glass cylinder: it holds a tea light, lifts out for cleaning and shields the flame from drafts. Others open wider and take a pillar candle or a ball candle. If in doubt, measure the opening before buying the candle.

On a Table, or on the Floor

Between 20 and 40 cm, a lantern sits on a table without hiding faces: this is the size that goes with a dinner. From 40 cm up, it stands on the floor, on either side of a console table or a door, and looks best shown in pairs, at two different heights. The smallest ones line up on a windowsill.

Indoors, and Outdoors Under Cover

Metal and glass can handle an evening on the terrace, as long as you bring the lantern back inside afterward: our care instructions intend it for indoor use, and prolonged moisture marks the finishes. Wood and rattan need the same care. A dry cloth is all it takes for everyday upkeep.

Frequently Asked Questions

Is the candle included?

No, the lantern is sold on its own. You choose the candle according to the holder: a tea light for models with a glass cylinder, a pillar or ball candle for the more open ones.

What size candle do I need?

The usable diameter is listed on the product page; if not, measure the opening before buying the candle.

Can it be left outside?

On a covered terrace, for an evening. Permanently exposed, no: rain and frost damage the finishes.
