Coffee Tables

The heart of the living room. A coffee table holds the cup, the book and the tray, and sets the height for everything around it. Wood, travertine-effect ceramic or metal: low shapes, within easy reach of the sofa.

The right height

A coffee table is matched to the sofa's seat: between 35 and 45 cm, it stays within reach without getting in the way of your legs. Lower, it fades into the background and lets the eye wander; higher, it comes closer to a side table.

The right size

Allow one half to two thirds of the sofa's length, and about forty centimeters of clearance between the table and the seat. Nesting tables, tucked one under the other, offer two surfaces when entertaining and just one the rest of the time.

Material and care

Wood develops a patina over time, travertine-effect ceramic gives the look of stone without its porosity, and metal holds fine lines. A dry cloth for everyday care; a barely damp cloth on wood and ceramic, and immediate drying on metal.
