Choose the number of seats before anything else, width and depth follow. This selection brings together sofas from two to five seats, corner models, modular sofas and sofa beds with storage.
Three seats on paper does not mean three people sitting comfortably: look at the seat width available between the armrests. Then mark out the width on the floor at home with masking tape. That mark on the floor will tell you better than any figure whether the sofa still leaves room to walk past.
A fixed sofa keeps the same shape and often offers the best seat support. A modular sofa can be rearranged to suit the room, which helps when the living room changes use or when you move house. A sofa bed stands in as a spare bed for the night, and it is how you use it, not the style, that decides.
A deep seat invites you to sink in with your legs tucked up and suits long evenings. A shallower seat supports the back better and lets you get up effortlessly. If the sofa also serves as a reading nook, depth matters more than overall length.
A three-seater is enough in most rooms, as long as its width fits along a free wall. Beyond that, a corner sofa takes up the same space while offering a longer section.
It is used every day like an ordinary sofa, provided you check the seat support when closed. The product page gives the dimensions of the unfolded bed.
Blot with a dry white cloth, working from the edge toward the center, without rubbing the fibers. Let it air-dry, then vacuum to lift the fabric.
