In this selection, almost every model converts into a bed and many come in a left- or right-hand corner version. The choice therefore comes down to three points: the sleeping width, the side of the corner and whether there is a storage compartment.

The bed before the seat

A sofa bed is judged on its least visible function. Look at the sleeping width given on the product page, one hundred sixty centimeters for the Joan model, and check that you still have clearance in front of the sofa once unfolded. The term express convertible refers to a quick opening mechanism, designed for a bed that is used often.

Left or right, facing the sofa

The side of a corner is read by standing facing the sofa: the long section then extends to your left or to your right. The Sasha, Livia and Myra models come in both directions, which lets the wall decide. Place the long section along the largest free wall, and keep the walkway on the open side.

Storage under the long section

Some convertible corner sofas hide a storage compartment under the long seat. It is the space every living room lacks: the duvet and pillows for the bed fit inside and stay within reach in the evening. Just check that the seat lifts without hitting a coffee table placed too close.

Frequently asked questions

How can I tell if the corner is left or right?

Stand facing the sofa. If the long section extends to your left, it is a left-hand corner; if it extends to your right, it is a right-hand corner.

What sleeping width should I plan for?

For occasional use, a small double width is fine. To host guests often, aim for one hundred sixty centimeters, and measure the clearance available once the sofa is open.

Will the sofa fit up the stairs?

Compare the package dimensions, shown on the product page, not those of the sofa itself. Also measure the narrowest point along the way: door, landing or stairwell.
